JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Director of Songea Municipal Council has received approval for new employment opportunities under Reference No. FA.97/228/01/A/25 dated 29th April, 2025, from the Secretary General of the President’s Office, Public Service Management and Good Governance. Therefore, the Director of Songea Municipal Council announces the following job vacancies and invites qualified Tanzanians to apply:
1.0 OFFICE SECRETARY GRADE II – 6 POSITIONS
1.1.1 QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants must have completed Form Four (Form IV) and possess a Diploma in Records Management or an NTA Level 6 Certificate in Records Management.
- Must have a typing speed of 80 words per minute in both Kiswahili and English.
- Must have training in office computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Email, and Publisher from a government-recognized institution.
1.1.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Typing letters, reports, and confidential documents.
- Receiving visitors, addressing their concerns, and directing them appropriately.
- Maintaining records of events, meetings, schedules, and travel plans for superiors.
- Retrieving files and documents required for work tasks.
- Receiving and distributing files to relevant officers in departments/units.
- Collecting, storing, and returning files and documents to respective sections.
- Preparing agendas and making arrangements for various meetings.
- Compiling lists of office equipment requirements.
- Performing other duties as assigned by superiors.
1.1.3 SALARY SCALE
According to Government Salary Scale TGS C₁ per month.
2.0 DRIVER GRADE II – 5 POSITIONS
2.1.1 QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants must have completed Form Four (Form IV) and possess a Class E or C driving license.
- Must have at least one (1) year of accident-free driving experience.
- Must have attended a Basic Driving Course from VETA or another government-recognized institution.
2.1.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspecting vehicles before and after trips to ensure safety.
- Transporting staff to various locations for official duties.
- Performing minor vehicle repairs and maintenance.
- Collecting and distributing documents as required.
- Recording all trip details in a logbook.
- Ensuring vehicle cleanliness.
2.1.3 SALARY SCALE
According to Government Salary Scale TGS B₁ per month.
3. GENERAL CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 45 years.
- Applicants must attach a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) with contact details (phone numbers, email address), and names of three reliable referees.
- Applications must include certified copies of academic and professional certificates (Form IV/VI certificates, Diplomas, Computer Certificates, and relevant training certificates).
- Testimonials, Professional Results, Statement of Results, and Form IV/VI Result Slips will NOT be accepted.
- Applicants who studied abroad must ensure their certificates are verified by relevant authorities (TCU, NECTA, or NACTE).
- Public servants must provide permission from the Chief Secretary to apply.
- Submission of false information will lead to legal action.
- All applications must be submitted electronically through the Recruitment Portal: https://portal.ajira.go.tz.
- Applications submitted outside the specified procedure will not be considered.
- Driver applicants must attach certified copies of driving training certificates.
